Motýľ & Rothenstein: Heavyweight Jazz Meeting

The project Heavyweight Jazz Meeting, led by jazz musicians Erik Rothenstein and Michal Motýľ, presents an authentic dialogue between two “heavyweights” of low-register instruments on their latest original album.

Exploring the Depths of Sound

At the heart of this project lies a fascination with the powerful, resonant sound of low-register brass and woodwinds. Erik Rothenstein, on baritone saxophone, and Michal Motýľ, on bass trombone, have crafted a unique sonic identity for the album. Their music masterfully balances massive, authoritative tones with lyrical sensitivity and nuanced improvisational color. The album is the culmination of their long-term artistic partnership and their continuous search for harmony between structured composition and the freedom of jazz improvisation.
